Name:
Oliver Albright
Age:
23
Height:
5’9”
Sex:
Male
Hair:
Bright orange and messy. It draws attention to him which he hates.
Eyes:
Turquoise.
Occupation:
Currently studying to get his masters in Astronomy. On the side he tutors and also is a barista part time.
Personality:
Positive traits (+): intelligent, diligent, observant, patient, organized,
Neutral traits (=): devoted, determined, verbose, perfectionist
Negative traits (-): cynicism, apathy, stubborn, overworked, quick-tempered, vengeful
Oliver's been shaped from his upbringing to be a perfectionist. His Mother primarily - but his Father and brother as well - contributed to this
The few good things that come out of that is that he is very detail oriented and organized. He notices little things, takes account of every minor shift and as a result, he does read people well to some degree. He dislikes clutter and keeps everything in it's proper place. He also gets straight As in classes, and even utilizes his skills to help tutor underclassmen. Whether they pay attention or not is irrelevant - sure it irritates him, but he still does it. Ultimately it's in his nature to help people out, and he has a strong sense of right and wrong in tandem with that. He'll go out of his way to help others, at no benefit to himself, alienating himself from his family and high society in that regard.
Additionally, or perhaps because of his sense of justice, Oliver is an incredibly loyal and devoted person. He will support and stay beside anyone he lets into his life, for better or worse. His family is definitely the for worse of the spectrum, he can't help but try to impress them, even if it's killing him.
He hates being vulnerable to any degree, hates asking for help, hates talking about his problems, doesn't want to cause trouble. Showing weakness is definitely not allowed, after all it can be used against you. He's very distrustful of other's initially and it can take a while for him to warm up.
Once he does though, he turns out to just be a snarky young man. He favors dry humor, likes to make soft sarcastic comments. He wants to make people laugh, or make them think. Generally, he doesn't like to cause bad emotions. Sometimes he has no choice though.
This also means that he's a doting and supportive partner and friend. It's to his detriment sometimes, he worries a lot more about what he can do for his relationships than basic self care, but it also means that anyone he chooses will have a secure and safe place to turn to. He won't sugarcoat his opinions, but he's absolutely in your corner - 1000%.
History:
TL:DR
* from a rich family in maine, where he's the second brother, to a CEO father and socialite mother
* probably an affair baby actually, very resented by his mother
* his older brother is set to inherit the company except hes awful and oliver is resentful of that but is meant to be useful via and arranged marriage with a rich woman
* him and his assigned wife's clock doesn't match (of course it wouldn't, he's gay), now he's hoping if he finds out who his (potentially romantic) soulmate, he might not have to get married
Oliver Albright was born the second son to Charles and Eleanor Albright. The CEO and socialite respectively already had a three year old son Cormac, each of which having dark hair and eyes, looking picture-perfect. Like a family cut out of magazine. Around the halls of Albright Manor were already pictures of the three, content and poised. The Albrights were happy and healthy.
And then Oliver had red hair and turquoise eyes, the product of recessive genes. Or maybe it was a skeleton in Eleanor's closet. No one really has confirmation to this day, and Eleanor sure as Hell isn't going to elaborate on that (even if that's actually more suspicious).
Oliver's existence caused many a fight between Charles and Eleanor, and many a rumor between the high society and the gossips of the parties that Eleanor often threw in the High Society of Maine. His families resentment started almost immediately. It's rumored that the only reason Eleanor never got rid of him was because of the reputation that would cause. Who puts a baby up for adoption? Not Eleanor Albright, that's for sure.
It became clear to Oliver at an early age how favored his brother really was. When Cormac was bullying other kids at the parties - the brothers never went to a real school - or even his own little brother, Eleanor and Charles turned a blind eye. Occasionally a performative "no, don't do that" was uttered, but no one really took it seriously anyway. Oliver was berated for the smallest infractions. He was never physically harmed but from an early age, he was conditioned that any mistake is simply unacceptable, that he was worthless if he allowed it.
It was really quite damaging.
What was contradictory though, was the way Eleanor treated him at the parties. There was always a fake air of support and care - like he was her "beloved son", even though everyone knew that was a lie. He was taught to "Do his best" - a mantra she repeated, and was touted about as another addition to a beautiful family.
The fauxness was almost worse. It left Oliver confused overall.
As it turns out, this was all strategy. Eleanor hatched a plan in mind. Her least favorite and discarded son simply could not be trusted or allowed to be the next CEO - even if Cormac was a drug addict and womanizer by this point. Instead, Eleanor could find another use for Oliver.
Portia Carter - daughter of Patricia Carter and further CEO of Carter Beauty Products. A girl Oliver's age who also happened to have a massive fucking crush on Oliver.
It's not that Eleanor was particular against her son being gay, of course. But she'd do anything for an advantage in this world, a way to extend her reputation and wealth.
Patricia and Portia agreed with the arrangement almost instantly. Anything to make Portia happy was fine by Patricia. It wasn't long after that that the prospect was
At least, he really hopes so.
