After this interaction, Ino doubted this was a lie the way his own alibi was. He knew some runelore, but he wasn't feeling particularly like helping the lust out. "You could try telling the Prince. He certainly has a contract expert on his staff."

Suddenly, this whole thing was so funny. Why was he telling this guy anything. And why was the envy demon responding so....normally. He finally got the earring loose, but it snagged a thread. He wanted to scream. Just lie down and scream himself hoarse. Bez was right. He'd been a fool to go along with everything, to be too trusting, too passive, too hopeful. It was too much to wish for one good thing to happen. It really was all too funny.
"My parents set the whole thing up," he replied, feeling quite distant. "I haven't even seen the contract."
Maybe it felt good to just...say it. To tell some stranger what happened. To be sad and pitiful and stupid for a little while. This guy seemed to already think he was, so it didn't matter so much anyway. Who cared what he thought.

"Hide on Earth, probably," Cyr said in a faint voice. If he cried, his face would get all puffy and he didn't have anything to make the swelling go down. So he shouldn't do that. He just needed to sit quietly and breathe slowly and it would pass.
